This sequel is gradually coming together. Originally, released in 2004 and directed by Mel Gibson, ‘The Passion of the Christ’, focused on the last few hours of Jesus before his crucifixion. It had a superb caste which included Jim Caviezel who played the role of Jesus. The movie was an emotional one for movie goer but its storyline was captivating. It made more that 600 million dollars at the box office. It received multiple Academy Award nominations and was a huge box-office success.
Now, Gibson is ready to repeat this feat with a sequel to the story. Mel Gibson has confirmed that the film “will not be a straightforward chronological telling of Christ’s resurrection.” It will explore the spiritual realm, focusing on the three days Jesus spent between the crucifixion and resurrection. Though much of the sequel is still in development the story of Jesus remains the most important to tell.
